]performance s p a c e [ presents DRAWN

Folkestone Creative Quarter

Tuesday 4 October – Sunday 9 October

12pm – 6pm daily

]performance s p a c e [ celebrate their arrival in Folkestone with DRAWN, a week-long exhibition of durational performance art examining place and identity. The program couples six international artists with six hyper-local materials; stone, water, salt, wood, blood and earth. Each artist will explore their given material for six hours each day, for six days, across six locations based in the Creative Quarter. Participating venues include Tontine Street’s Gallery 56, The Brewery Tap and B&B Project Space, as well as The Old High Street’s Kabe Gallery, Lilford Gallery and Space Gallery.

Located on the shore of the English Channel and at the mouth of the Channel Tunnel, DRAWN invites audiences (local and international) to consider how we relate to one another – across difference, beyond borders and through the environments we inhabit.

DRAWN is a physical and emotional exploration of the surpluses and deficits we encounter when considering identity and place; an exercise in how we locate ourselves physically, geographically and emotionally.

Participating artists include Charlotte Law (UK), Vela Oma (MX/USA), Dani D’Emilia (IT/BR), Nathalie Bikoro (GA), Keijaun Thomas (USA) and Poppy Jackson (UK).

The exhibition is free of charge and open to all, midday – 6pm daily, with a closing party taking place on Sunday 9 October. Visit ]performance s p a c e [ at 64 Tontine Street throughout the exhibition to relax and find out more about DRAWN, participating artists and performance art. Audiences can also follow the work online via the ‘live archive’  where written responses and documentation of the work will be uploaded as it takes place.
